Stayed 4 nights at The Metropole in Whitby. The accommodation was comfortable and well equipped. A little dated and not cleaned to a high standard

A parking scratch card was supplied for one car, as the apartment sleeps 7 and we were a party of six we had to take two cars. When an extra scratch card was requested we were told no, use public car parks. We stayed last year very close to this apartment and was given two scratch cards. We enquired at Tourist Information and they said your holiday letting company should supply them. Rang Host and Stay and was told to pay immediately for another card which we did, after several phone calls, emails and assurances from Host and Stay we finally got another one two days later.

While Host and Stay are quick to reply they tend to send the same email over again and do not address the issue, despite saying they will. We spent far too much time chasing them.

The apartment block is showing its age with flaking plaster. The lift broke down on the first day with us in it and we had to be rescued by Fire Service as the lift maintenance would have to send someone from Leeds which was some distance away and as we had two children with us and a very small lift we could not spend hours waiting to be rescued, the fire alarm went off at 7.00 on the third day and we had to evacuate the building. Luckily a false alarm.

Probably would not stay at The Metropole again and would not book with Host and Stay again.
