Modern rooms without wood flooring and white chattels and the most heavenly comfortable beds.Great location on the doorstep of Powell and union square.Hotel is currently renovating and dusty/chalky in reception, which can't be helped, felt a little bit of this in my lungs and nostrils even in my room, which was slightly unpleasant, but is not really an ongoing negative just unfortunate timing for us.

I like the location. It is near of most of the places to visit and thepublic transport. The hotel was clean. The hotel hasn't breakfast butthere is an Starbucks in front of the hotel.okay, common shower room as stated in the offerbut no water/sink at all in the bedroom, and no proper room where you could have one. So you have to brush your teeth, shave in the restroom, with just a small "corner" sink

There wasn't a table to put your stuff on!The elevator was also terrifying. It was old, loud, violently shaky, and seemed to have no certificate posted as they usually do.Internet access would have been nicer if it was wifi not a cable.It just seemed to sparse for the price.

Everything was clean, and the things that were there were moden. Hardwood floors in my room, windows opened, nice ceiling fan, nice comfortable bed with big pocketed comforter, etc.

It was close to everything.The heat was not adjustable. I had to open my windows all night and therefore couldn't sleep well due to street noise. Also, the red glow from the hotel sign was a major problem for sleeping. I would not stay here again.

Location was great for the shopping in union squareThe staff was rude overall. They did not even acknowledge you when walking in and out of building. We had loud banging noices coming from pipes which woke us us up at 4 in the morning.they were not at all helpful with this and if I had not paid up front they would not have got money for the first night. This went on for 45 min .

(Fat chance!)

Location a block from Union Square. Friendly, helpful staff and a great price for the location.We booked 4 months in advance and when we arrived they did not have our room. We were given a room not renovated for a person rather than a couple, no towels nor soap / shower gel, dirty and uncomfortable. The next day we had to insist to find for us a room at another hotel as we had no intention of sleeping another two nights in a room like that!

I used to live in San Francisco and was back for a quick weekend trip.The Herbert Hotel is an older building with many details that you oftenfind in an older San Francisco house. Everything was clean and simple.They had hardwood floor (no nasty carpets in the room), basic whitebedding and white towels. The bedding and towels were older, but becausethey were white, you could tell that they had been cleaned well. Thefeel of the room made us feel like we were staying in a little apartmentroom, rather than a hotel. Just make sure to book a room with a privatebath. The shared baths connect the rooms, and if that had been open, Iwould have felt too connected to the strangers next-door. The locationwas perfect!!Our room was quite stuffy, lacking air circulation, fan, a/c. There were too few showers/washrooms for the number of rooms. Perhaps private rooms would better choice. We were supposed to have a small fridge and microwave but these were not provided.

However, when asked they say that I have torequest those items and since I didn't request, they are not available.I also called and asked front desk lady if I could store my rented bikeat the hotel for one evening, she said yes. When I got to the hotel withsaid bike, I was told that they do not store bikes for guests. It wasthe same front desk lady that I spoke with on the phone!! She reallydidn't have her shit together.

We liked the location, so close to shopping, cable car, eating houses.Friendly staff and other clients. Clean, comfortable, trustworthycleaners. Helpful reception booking our shuttle to airport, baggagestorage because we had a late flight out so we were able to tour aroundthen come back for our pickup.I stayed there for two nights and it was extremely noisy.I had difficulty sleeping because it was so loud.When I booked my reservation I had requested a room that was street facing, yet my room overlooked the busiest road.If you are a light sleeper I do not recommend staying here. There was no fridge in the room as well.

This hotel is excellent value for money. I read some reviews of itprior, and made sure we had ear plugs and was not expecting 5 star for a3 star price. People complained of lack of wifi (we didn't go on holidayto use wifi and I happily went from floor 5 to 2 to use) and cleanliness(could have been a bit cleaner), however, we got excellent value in anextremely exciting area of San Francisco.

I like that it's an affordable hotel that offers great hotel experience. It's an awesome hotel, wouldn't even change my mind not to stay here next time. Would definitely suggest to all of my friends.We did not like that there was no parking. It was raining and verydifficult to get the luggage to the hotel. Had to park in a garage fiveblocks away since all closer ones were full.The tub and sink had massive rust stains.Overall, run down.Photos on the website were artfully done considering how run down the place is.Beds were comfortable though. No ice or vending machines.Had to aski twice for more towels. Would not stay here again.

Position, since I had to move from my previous hotel ( Fusion Hotel), which was better(not that outdated and some basic breakfast included) and cheaper ( 75 vs 05). Also some comedy show has been happening close byand due to a simple window which was not fitted 100% I could hear the actors ( or what ever it was) by midnight.1. The room first assigned to us had bed bugs. However, the hotel was able to assign another room to us immediately upon our feedback.2. The 2nd room had a window which couldnt be locked. Luckily, its facing the aircon ducts and probably doesnt have much access to the public. The window blinds were broken.3. We encountered about 4 different front-office staffs during our stay, only 1 of them is friendly enough.
