The food was excellent with v good service. The staff were friendly and helpful - efficient indeed.The room 104 was spacious and well decorated and the bed comfortable.poor breakfast, ( beans dry, scrambled eggs very sloppy, ash browns over cooked, poor quality sausage, watered down orange juice). only thing that let our stay down.

Had a fab shopping weekend with my sister and parents. Hotel was in a convenient location, easy to bring shopping bags back and go out again.There was a lot of road noise

All the staff were well trained - always friendly and approachable - nothing too much troubleI thought I had booked a suite at the time of booking, this turned out to be incorrect due to wrong photos and description of room on booking website. Was most disapointed on arrival!

Close to amenities friendly cleanThe room smelt strongly of smoke and there was cigarette ash on thebathroom floor, even though it was a no smoking room.Very unpleasant.Also did not like having to climb several flights of outside steps to reach the room.Decor was tired.

It has a very central location in the heart of York.Pleasant atmosphere in public spaces.The easy chairs in the bedroom could have been more comfortable.The menu was rather repetitive.

Excellent restaurant - welcoming staffNo bath in room, shower had mould and needed new mastic round shower base and needed grouting ,extractor in toilet not working, bed had a bad slant on it , room 37.

The staff were very friendly and most helpful. The food was excellent and plentful.The room was clean refreshment tray replaced.The bar lacked atmosphere and the choice of draught beers was extremely poor.The breakfast staff whilst very helpful did not seem quite sure about how the restaurant worked ,as we were told to take a seat and somebody would come and take our order (in fact it was self service which we noticed after sitting some time)When checking out I was told that I could not pay by Maestro Debit card(I had booked using same card) so I had to go looking for an ATM in York. Upon my return I was told that in fact I could pay using my card.

I booked room for a gay friends honeymoon, as a gift which they loved!The couple reported back that hotel was very clean comfortable with massive bed! great food excellent room service best place they had ever stayed!!!! So thankyou for making their stay so memerable.They intend to visit again in the new year.

The location could not have been better for the shops and the venue we were attending at night.The breakfast was good and plentiful.The partition walls are a little thin. Not too intrusive but any sound travels through.

Location, friendliness of staff, very welcoming.Room was much smaller than it looked on the picture when I booked it.Have stayed in larger rooms in London. Would have liked 2 proper chairswith backs, the tv higher up on the wall and a stain free bedcover.Wasn't clear that bath with shower meant bath with shower taps, no wall fastening and no shower curtain. Thought restaurant was expensive for evening meals. Whilst the quality was good, we ate just as we'll, if not better and much cheaper locally.

As a hotel propretier I was veryimpressed by the way the staff handled the situation when we arrived.The boiler in the main part of the building was not working hence there was no hot water in our accommodation. The duty manager who was working under extreme pressure relocated us and our little dog to another part of the hotel and parked our car as there was no parking spaces when we arrived. Very impressed and well done. Great location.We had no hot water in our room from arrival so could not wash or showerin the evening , and when we reported it they said the boiler had failedbut we could change rooms, this took up most of the next morning beforewe could get showered and ready to go out,Our bill at the end did notchange ,although we where at the reception when another customer wasoffered a room without hot water for £25 pounds !!! . Apart from thisthe stay was very good

Convenient for city centre-nice size room,The shower/water was awful -scolding to freezing every two minutes, on the last day I didn't get chance to wash the conditioner out of my hair as after a while it just stayed freezing.

The hotel was very handy for all the attractions York had to offer. The site was good.The breakfast was a very good buffet.The Christmas package meals were good.The black fungus marks on the white silcone joint between the bath & wall as this is easily overcome with the use of baby Milton sterilising fluid for instance. The staff in the breakfast room were to busy to notice clients waiting to be seated a buzzer system from the breakfast reception area directly to a staff member on duty would seem to offer a solution in this area

The convenience of the location and its nearness to shops and sights. Also the food was very good for both breakfast and dinner. We also liked the guests lounge, where we usually spent time reading after breakfast.
