The location is very good.The breakfast had a good selection of cooked food,cereals and juices.Try to avoid the weak coffee! Did not use the pool,but it's a big plus,will keep the kids entertained.My comments are in the negative . room 4th floor.The Hotel deserves a 3 star rating rather than 4 star.The Rooms are better suited for single occupancy, and require better fittings.The Bathroom/toilet arrangementsare poorly designed. shower good.Guest list includes many one/twonight coach tours.Guest list includes one night air crew or similar.Lobby furniturepoor/ worn condition Menu prices seemed high , we did not eat at this hotel.Room rate paid reflected Edinburgh festival demand. Hassle free. Comfortable clean room.Not enough towels in room, remote for tv not working properly and had towait over 30 minutes for dinner in Elements restaurant which was asimple meal. Was not offered any compensation for the wait or given areason. The restaurant was not understaffed .as staff weresetting tables and chatting so not over worked!

Staff extremely friendly throughout our stay. We received an upgrade to executive room on arrival. We had a problem with the window in the room which was fixed immediately. We didn't use the pool facility but it looked very nice.Great for location, less than 5 mins to the Grassmarket area and Royal mile.We also used the bus stop to the Ocean Terminal which was again a short walk away. We had a fantastic relaxing weekend.The breakfast could have been a little better prepared.But it was OK.

Location, friendly staff, comfortable and clean room with seperate toilet.Lack of ambiance,very plain interior. Had the worst made bed ever ,very .!!,,,,,wrinkly duvets and pillows.Why is the loudspeaker for the television in the bathroom? The sound has to be turned up really high for you to be able to hear anything if you are in the room,whilst in the bathroom it's so loud and echoes against the tiles! Why?Was making a cup of coffee in the room,the cup had lipstick on from a previous guest,not nice!

The meals in the restaurant were really good and the waiters and barstaff couldnt have been more polite abd friendly. Constantly asking ifeverything was ok without it being too much. Those staff were the bestive come across in a long time! Unfortunately we forgot our swim wearbut the pool facilities liiked very clean and relaxing and never verybusy. Our room was clean, comfy beds and quiet.

I liked the location, close to Grassmarket and all the restaurants aswell as the Castle (main attraction). The room was ready at 1pm insteadof 2pm. The swimming pool was very good.Undergoing renovation - we were not advised how to make use of Leisure facilities available or if there were any restrictions on them because of the renovationsAlso when we first checked in we were given a room with disabled toilet, however we asked to change and were given another room by a different but very helpful receptionist. There was no outside area for smokers - I object to standing at the front door - in the freezing coldThe bar had no pinot grigio - although it was on the menu.

Location. Clean spacious room. Friendly and helpful staff.The key card to open the bedroom door was not working. I had to wait forthe maintenance employee to help me. Then the door was very hard to openevery time both days. Very annoying when one pays £110 per night.The receptionist were not very welcoming, like a robot and not always at the desk. We asked for towels and milk as well as more tea bags.They never came to our room to provide us with the additional items. One towel was on the shower door and we couldn't find the other one that was under the sink.Why not all at the same place? Under the bed it was dirty, they did not hoover the place for a while, plastic paper were there.The bed were not done properly, the mattress cover was not tucked in properly. For the price £110, it was not good standards. I will try another hotel next time. The premier inn next door might be good!

Nice hotel. I stayed to see Madonna on a night when many hotels were full, so I booked what i could, so I was pleasantly surprised by what a nice hotel it was. I would stay again and next time I will bring my swimming trunks since I didn't notice there was a pool when booking. Very stylish rooms, loved the bathroom design and shower, if I could find an apartment with a bathroom/shower like that I would buy it. Even more surprised to pull back the curtains and find a view of the castle, not crucial to my stay but an added bonus. The staff asked having guessed correctly that we were there for Madonna and offered to book a taxi for us, not required this time, but very helpful. A lovely hotel for a fantastic weekend. I will be looking for this chain in future for other city breaks, with or without Madonna.Cost, cleanliness of room,noise.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel as we were attending the Queen'sGarden Party at Holyrood Palace. It was very convenient for this event.Overall it was excellent value for money and we do plan to stay there again.The staff were very helpful and efficient and really helped to make our stay so enjoyable. I would rate this as 3 Plus.Felt breakfast was very overpriced considering what the roomtariffs are.

The room was spacious and comfortable.We didnt get a very good first impression to be honest.we came tocheck in ans had to wait 10 mins maybe more as she was checking inanother guest. The receptionist did not even acknowledge we were there.She did apologise when we were being seen to but a smile neverhurts.out of all the amazing staff she let the hotel down im afraid.

The staff were very useful and helpful. Free WiFi in the reception was very useful.My only slight unhappiness was with there parking charges. I doappreciate that parking is difficult and costly in Edinburgh .However, the charge per exit did seem somewhat excessive and could be made more acceptable if some deduction was made for say extra spend on other hotel facilities ie Restuarant/Bar.

The Novotel was a pleasant surprise, situated just minutes from Grassmarket and a short walk from Princes street the location is perfect, Very welcoming reception and staff very friendly.Rooms very clean and modern, liked the big shower. Facilites really goodWould definatley return to the Novotel and would definatley recommend to friends and other travellers.I didn't like the insistence of the receptionist swiping my credit card (I had prepaid for my room) in case I used the mini bar etc.

Could not fault this hotel, very friendly, helpful staffWe had a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant .room was excellentwould definetely stay here again.I felt alright about the room at the first glance. However, a minute later, I found sth like blood stain on the carpet and the blue single seat looked full of dust. The covering sheet of the twin beds were yellow instead of white. I called your staff of reception desk and see if they could help. They said they would inform the staff of domestic team in the next morning. Of course, my family members and I were disappointed to your staff, so, knowing that we were frustrated, they sent a lady to see the rooms. The lady had no response to the dirtiness, and her attitude was no good. It seems that she was the victim rather than us. If I need a budget hotel, I would go to travelodge, I booked your hotel because I expect more. It was ridiculousto find out that the cleaniness of the 2 travelodge in London and Milton Keynes weremuch better than you.

Hotel was is a fantastic location, all attractions within 5 - 10 minswalk. Pool and Spa were great anf staff very friendly.The parking or lack of it. £2.50 for a bottle of water and unhelpful staff.

we were able to upgrade to a very nice suite at a very attractive value for money priceFacilities in the room were poor, the shower itself was a poor design and the shower head didn't even point in the right direction and instead would swing to the side.The 'aircon' was infact not aircon and would only blow warm/cold air.We went on the weekend when it was around 25deg and so the room was ridiculously hot. The only way to cool was with the window open, to the noise of the cooler unit on the roof outside (we were on the 6th floor).When we mentioned to reception, they weren't interested at all.Disappointing stay.
