The location was lovely and the hotel itself was fabulous with old classic features and furniture.Very traditional and welcoming.The walk up the hill to the hotel was a bit much after walking around Durham for a few hours.

The rooms are excellent in fact the whole hotel is a very pleasant place to stay.Would be even better in spring/summer. But hotel looked very pretty in the January snow!Carvery and breakfasts very good.This time we had a room with a connecting door. Obviously this was locked but we were aware of a cigar/cigarette smoke smell and realised this was the person in the adjoining room.They had opened the window to erase the smoke smell but...
