I travel to hk once per month and stay in hotels for a wk each time. I was excited to get to heritage lodge. The rooms looked spacious and with high ceilings, so unlike other hotels I have been in. The buildings and surrounding area indeed were very neat and had a lot of character. The room was so big compared to other hotels I have been in and the museum is a nice place to visit. However, when I saw the bed, there were many dead little bugs on the pillow and around the head area and I wondered if it had not been lived in for a while. Housekeeping came promptly and changed the sheets for me which was great. But not long after the bugs were back resting on the pillow and I would smack them off only to find more a few minutes later. I looked closely at the wooden walls and little insects were crawling into the cracks. They were even in my suitcase. The bugs I think are harmless but still kind of disgusting since there were so many. I went to shower and killed some winged insects and some spiders in the shower. There were little dead bugs in the sink area and also in the toilet. All these were harmless I think. But there were also many Mosquitos so I woke up with many bites. The door isn't sealed near the bottom so they probably got in through the crack. The other little bugs came from a mysterious place. I slept with a hoodie on and in the morning I saw bugs on the bedspread. Dead and alive. Needless to say I booked another hotel and went to notify the staff of my early check out. I was offered a free upgrade in the hotel but declined. I couldn't get a refund because I booked through agoda but that was ok. I don't want another night of restless sleep with a jacket over my head. The staff were apologetic and kind. Service was good. But only if you like camping stay here. Price was very good for the size and decor of the hotel. I hope that heritage lodge can improve the bug situation. I understand it is in a nature setting and therefore it is expected to have bugs, and even a few is tolerable. But having up to 10-15 at one time dead and alive on the pillow is not very acceptable. I am worried that they are hiding in the wooden walls. Please fix this situation because the buildings and rooms are truly beautiful.
